What to Expect Before, During, and After an UltraClear Treatment

  • Prepare your skin before treatment by pausing your use of chemical exfoliants.
  • Protect your skin after your treatment by avoiding direct sunlight and wearing sunscreen.
  • With the right steps, you can have a recovery that’s significantly shorter than with traditional laser treatments.

Modern laser treatments offer finer, long-lasting corrections to skin aging, roughness, and discoloration. At Adam & Eve Medical Aesthetics, we continue to learn and invest in evolving treatments to offer cutting-edge skin rejuvenation options. An UltraClear laser treatment offers resurfacing and skin damage correction with less discomfort and a faster recovery. If you’re considering an UltraClear laser treatment, learn more about the pre-treatment and post-treatment so you have more peace of mind before starting your treatment.

Pre-Treatment Prep

In the weeks leading up to your treatment, there are steps you can take to protect your skin and make sure you get the best possible results from the UltraClear laser session. We recommend being diligent about applying sunscreen and avoiding too much time out in the sun. For two to four weeks before your treatment dates, it’s also best not have other skin treatments. You should also adapt your at-home skincare routine to not include chemical exfoliants. In the week before your date, pause any aspirin, NSAIDs, and blood-thinning supplements, as these can lead to bruising or slower recovery.

During your initial consultation, your healthcare professional will also ask about your medical history, history of cold sores, and prescriptions to give you personalized recommendations for your pre-treatment preparations. By taking these steps, your skin has a brief recovery period from day-to-day stressors, and you’re ready to have your treatment with the fastest possible recovery time.

On the day of your treatment, arrive hydrated and with no makeup or lotions.

What Happens During the Procedure?

UltraClear laser treatments can last between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on which areas and conditions you want to target. Your aesthetic technician will clean your skin and apply a topical numbing agent. Next, they apply the cold fiber laser to the skin of the targeted area. The laser creates micro-injuries that stimulate the skin so it produces more collagen and elastin.

Depending on what outcomes you want from your treatment, you may have just one or two sessions, or you might have more to address deeper wrinkles or discoloration.

Your Recovery Timeline

The recovery period for the typical UltraClear laser treatment is one or two weeks, with just one to three days of downtime. The recovery is much faster than with traditional laser treatments, which can require double the recovery time. During the first day or two following your treatment, apply ice packs to minimize discomfort and heat. Protect your skin with hydrating ointments and only use gentle cleansers. You might also sleep slightly upright to avoid pressure on your skin.

By day three, you should see your skin start to peel or flake away. This is normal, and do not scrub the skin. Try to avoid direct sunlight by staying indoors and wearing a wide-brimmed hat, and continue to apply sunscreen multiple times a day. Also, continue to avoid exfoliants and acidic skincare products. The redness in your skin will start to fade at the end of the first week and should be gone by the end of the second week.

Post-Care Recommendations for Optimal Skin Rejuvenation
