Sculptra Aesthetics treatments do not provide immediate results in the way that some other fillers do. Rather, the results are gradual and become more obvious over the first few weeks and most evident after a couple of months. Depending on the severity of volume loss and wrinkles, additional treatments may be needed. Regardless of how many treatments are necessary, results often last from two to three years.
As with most injectable fillers, there is a risk of temporary bruising following your Sculptra Aesthetics treatment. To minimize this risk, avoid taking aspirin for about two weeks prior to treatment. If you take prescription blood thinners, you risk of bruising is higher. However, do not discontinue these medications unless approved to do so by your prescribing physician. Eat and hydrate as normal the day of your treatment. Once you are comfortable in our treatment room, one of our licensed professionals will clean your face and mark the areas of treatment with a washable pen. A topical anesthetic might also be applied to help minimize discomfort. The procedure itself takes about 15 to 30 minutes. The Sculptra filler is injected under the dermis and subcutis layer of the skin quickly and professionally to help minimize any discomfort.
The area is then re-contoured or molded to achieve the desired results. In most cases, more than one treatment is required to achieve your best results. This will be discussed with you at your initial consultation, and an effective treatment plan will be developed to help you achieve your goals. When your treatment is complete, you can return home or to work immediately.
Avoid vigorous activity or laying directly on the treatment area post-procedure. Some swelling and bruising are normal. Use over the counter pain relievers and ice packs to help minimize any discomfort. Tenderness, itching and redness are other temporary side effects. More serious side effects are extremely rare but should be immediately reported to Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics in Scottsdale or your primary physician.
