Juvederm softens the skin and draws moisture to the area. After treatment, results are often noticeable almost immediately. They also continue to improve for one to two weeks post-treatment. The majority of clients see impressive results for up to a year after only one treatment, minimizing any downtime you might experience and helping you to quickly enjoy healthier skin and optimal beauty.
Juvederm treatments are safe for most clients in Scottsdale, AZ. One of the professionals at Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics will meet with you to discuss your concerns, take a medical history and provide a facial analysis. At this time, we ask that you discuss any medical concerns, previous allergic reactions to lidocaine or other proteins used to create HAs and let us know if you are pregnant or nursing. This will help us to determine if JUVEDERM is safe and effective for you.
To reduce bruising and swelling, please discontinue over-the-counter aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin D, vitamin E, flaxseed, fish oil, ginger, garlic, and ginkgo for one week prior to your appointment. Do not stop taking any prescription medications without first discussing this choice with your primary care physician. On the day of your treatment, avoid wearing any makeup to Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics in Scottsdale.
On the day of your appointment, plan to spend about an hour in the facility. This allows ample time for any paperwork questions and helps you feel comfortable in our treatment room. Once in a treatment room, Nicole Le Renard or Rebecca Embry will strategically mark spots on your cheeks to indicate the ideal injection sites. Your skin will also be cleaned, and a topical anesthetic may be applied to enhance your comfort. Juvederm injections take only minutes. They typically cause little, if any, discomfort as the formulation includes lidocaine to help numb the area. The stunning results provided by JUVEDERM are noticeable almost immediately and last for about 6-9 months after your procedure.
To enhance the effectiveness of your Juvederm treatment session in Scottsdale, do not apply pressure to the area for about 12 hours after your session. This could cause the filler to displace in the skin. It is also important to avoid vigorous activities for 24 hours after treatment. Some swelling and bruising is common, but it typically goes away after a few days. You can help manage it with ice packs placed gently against the skin. Avoid direct sunlight, and stay away from saunas or hot showers for 24 hours post-treatment. Exposure to heat can cause the blood vessels to dilate, increasing your chances of bruising or bleeding. Call Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics with any questions or concerns.

When Juvederm or Juvederm Plus is injected into the skin, the gel immediately spreads to smooth lines and wrinkles. This produces near-immediate results. However, it can take a few days to settle into its final position. This is most noticeable around the eye area. Most patients recognize full results within two weeks of treatment.
Juvéderm® injections can be used to enhance many different features, making it one of the most versatile injectable fillers currently available.
It is currently approved for injection in the following:
Because Juvéderm® has several concentrations and formulations to choose from, it’s an excellent option for a wide variety of patients. Depending on your specific beauty goals or concerns, your aesthetician can recommend a specific form for you. At Adam & Eve Medical Aesthetics, we focus on tailoring treatment to help you achieve the incredible results you want.
Juvéderm® in Scottsdale can be used to:
Juvéderm® lasts an average of nine to 12 months, though the exact time frame will vary by individual. The rate at which your body metabolizes the filler (part of a natural process) will affect how long your results last. Many of our patients opt to schedule refresher appointments once or twice per year, ensuring that they maintain their beautiful, flawless skin and maximize their results.
On average, Juvéderm® in lips lasts between six and 12 months. Factors that can affect how long lip fillers last include the specific injection site and others. Typically, patients at Adam & Eve Medical Aesthetics visit us every three to six months for maintenance appointments. Depending on your preferences, you can talk to your aesthetician about the treatment plan that works best for you.
Juvéderm® is made of hyaluronic acid gel, which is a substance naturally produced by your body. In your skin, eyes, and connective tissue, there is a high concentration of hyaluronic acid. There, it helps retain the ideal amount of water for optimal hydration and volume – this is what keeps your skin looking gorgeously smooth and glowing. Because the makers of Juvéderm® use only a specialized, biosynthesized form of non-animal hyaluronic acid, it is completely allergen-free.
Yes, Juvéderm® is widely considered safe for use as an injectable filler. It became FDA-approved in 2006, and no serious side effects have been reported from its use as a filler. One of the biggest factors that draw our patients to Juvéderm® injections is that the formula is made from hyaluronic acid, which is an all-natural substance already produced by the body. Compared to other dermal fillers, Juvéderm® has similarly mild (and usually rare) side effects such as mild redness or temporary itching at the injection site.
Typically, patients in Scottsdale report only minimal discomfort during the Juvéderm® procedure, if any. Although Juvéderm® is administered via injection, our aestheticians are highly trained and experienced. As a result, they are well-equipped to prioritize patient comfort and make the procedure a positive, pain-free experience.
Yes, Juvéderm® can be injected into the cheeks. It is commonly injected into the cheeks to restore volume, specifically for the treatment of a loss of volume related to aging. It is an excellent option for using in the cheeks to add subtle definition, eliminate sagging, and create a refreshed, more youthful appearance. Juvéderm® is also highly effective when injected in the perioral area (lower cheeks, near the mouth) to reduce wrinkles and deep lines.
Yes. Juvéderm® is formulated with hyaluronic acid, a compound that occurs naturally in your body. By replenishing your natural hyaluronic acid, Juvéderm® helps restore the appearance of healthy, youthful skin and decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Temporary mild bruising is a possible side effect of Juvéderm®, specifically at the injection site. However, you can expect any bruising to fade fairly quickly.
Each patient in our Scottsdale clinic responds in a different way to Juvederm or Juvederm Plus. Some will bruise and swell less than others. On average, any bruising will last from three to 14 days. To help prevent bruising and swelling or manage any bruising or swelling you do experience, carefully follow the pre- and post-care instructions provided by Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics.
During the Juvéderm® recovery process, there are only a few precautions to keep in mind to ensure optimal results. Your aesthetician will make sure you are aware of everything you should and should not do, ensuring that you feel completely comfortable before leaving. After getting Juvéderm® in your lips, you should:
– Wear sunscreen (we can recommend a lip balm with SPF if you need suggestions)
– Continue your makeup routine as normal
After Juvéderm® injections, you should minimize:
– Unnecessarily touching or massaging the treated area for a few days
– Strenuous exercise and extensive heat/cold exposure for the first 24 hours after treatment
– Unnecessary sun exposure for up to two weeks
– Using any products that contain alcohol on your lips and face
Whether age has caused lip thinning or you simply want to enhance your natural lip shape and size, Volbella can be used to naturally plump your lips while maintaining a subtle appearance.
Like Juvederm itself, which is a cosmetic filler treatment, Volbella is an injectable treatment used to enhance the appearance of skin. In contrast to Juvederm, which can be used in other areas of the face, Volbella is designed to be used on the lips and the surrounding areas. Volbella may be used to “plump up” the lips as well as to smooth out laugh lines and wrinkles surrounding the mouth.
Each Volbella appointment will last about 30 minutes. Unlike some treatments, the results you notice from each Volbella injection are instantaneous. You will immediately notice fuller lips, reduced lines around your mouth, and smoother, healthier skin as a result of this treatment. Some patients report results that last up to one year, while others have enjoyed their Volbella treatment for 18 months!
You will be able to go back to your day after leaving our practice and resume your normal activities. Your Volbella treatment can last up to one year. You may want to speak to your provider about scheduling your Volbella treatments along with other treatments you frequently receive, such as microdermabrasion or other types of facials, to reduce the time that you will have to come into the office.
For most healthy people, Volbella is completely safe when it comes to treating lines around the mouth and improving the fullness of the lip area. Like Juvederm, it is composed of synthetic hyaluronic acid, which mimics the natural substance found in all of our bodies. This compound helps draw in water and keep it in your body for a longer period of time. The result of a Like hyaluronic acid treatment — whether it is injected or used topically on your skin — is healthier, more lubricated skin. Volbella can help treat the appearance of “smoker lines” around the mouth and lips that appear to lose their fullness due to normal aging.
Your final cost will depend upon where you’re receiving a Volbella injection, whether you are combining it with other procedures, and how many injections you receive. Insurance will not usually cover this procedure as it is cosmetic.
Typically, a Volbella syringe will cost around $400-$600. Depending on which features you are addressing, you may need one or two syringes during a treatment session. Speak with your practitioner or staff before scheduling your Volbella appointment to determine the final cost of this procedure.
Volbella usually lasts up to 12 months. Volbella, unlike some competing products, is one of the longest-lasting and simplest fillers to receive. Other fillers may require you to come in for a touch-up every few months! Be sure to take good care of your lips during this time including protecting them with lip products that include SPF sun protection. Your body’s natural production rate of collagen will be another determining factor for how long each injection lasts. Some patients notice improvement for longer than 12 months!
Volbella was designed for shallow injections, while other products were used for injections that go deeper into the skin. Volbella can be used for injections under the eye area if the injection area is shallow. There are other products made specifically for the under eye area if this is your main concern. We will be able to advise you more clearly on specific products during your consultation.
Volbella injections may cause swelling for the first day or two after you receive the injections, but this should subside within 48 hours. If your swelling looks abnormal, feels painful, or lasts longer than a few days, this is not normal. The Volbella injection itself should not cause pain or discomfort aside from the tiny prick you may feel when the needle is inserted. Please call us immediately if you notice any strange signs, such as extreme swelling or redness around the area that does not go away or gets worse.
Remember that your lips will look fuller than before — this is a normal part of the treatment and the desired result. If it’s the first time you’ve received a lip filler and you think they are too full, wait for a few days to see if the swelling is causing them to look larger than you want or if it is indeed the result of the treatment. As always, let us know if you have concerns. We strive to make our patients happy and content with the results they receive in our office.
