Dermal Fillers for Facial Contouring

Contouring has become quite the buzzword for the past few years now, especially on beauty blogs and YouTube. Contouring with makeup typically involves using a darker color to create the illusion of shadows, and lighter colors to highlight your facial features. However, it takes a lot of skill to contour your face without looking too made up. Getting dermal fillers allows you to create physical contours to your face by sculpting and shaping specific facial areas. This is sometimes referred to as a Liquid Facelift.

What is Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are FDA approved cosmetic procedures. The primary dermal fillers that Adam & Eve Medical Aesthetics use are Juvederm, Radiesse, and Restylane. The dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body. It helps in smoothing out wrinkles, filling out cheeks and temples. Dermal fillers are completely safe, and we have a team of experts who are certified to do cosmetic procedures. Dermal fillers can last from 6 months to 1 year or longer. It is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that takes less than one hour to perform.

How is Dermal Filler Used in Facial Contouring?

The mid-face is the most crucial area when it comes to facial contouring, and without dimension, the face looks flat. Focusing on the cheeks and temples helps anchor the surrounding facial features. The right placement of dermal filler during facial contouring can give you an instant facelift and a supple look. When injected into the cheeks, dermal fillers can highlight cheekbones while pulling the skin around the mouth and eyes taught.

Dermal fillers in the temples also help to add dimension. As we age, our temples can become hollow as a result of losing weight or having a low body fat percentage. Injecting dermal filler to the temples restores fullness instantly, and as a result, contours your eyebrow area and the forehead for a youthful look.

What is a Facial Contouring Procedure Like?

First of all, you need to book an appointment at Adam & Eve Medical Aesthetics with our specialist. The consultation is meant to establish whether you are fit to undergo the treatment. It is imperative to disclose any existing medical conditions or medication you are talking to your doctor. Communicating prescription or existing conditions helps your aesthetician decide the best course of action.

After the consultation, you will have an appointment for the facial contouring dermal fillers. On the day of the procedure, it is essential to arrive at least 15 minutes before. When you arrive early, you have ample time to fill in the paperwork before your turn. You can also ask any questions that you may have before the procedure or clarification in any aspect.

The procedure will take one hour or less, depending on how much contouring your face needs. You will see a difference immediately. There may be minor bruising and swelling which will disappear within 3-4 days.

What Should I Expect After the Procedure?

You should not massage or apply pressure to your face for 24 hours after the process. You should also avoid the direct sun for a few days after the procedure. But after your allotted healing time, your face will have natural-looking contours and you will appear younger and suppler.  It won’t be until another 6-12 months before you need your next maintenance procedure.
