Kybella is an injectable treatment that helps patients reduce fullness under the chin. Sometimes called a double chin, submental fullness can make your face look heavier and less attractive. Kybella contains synthetic deoxycholic acid which, when injected, destroys fat cells under the chin and improves your profile. This naturally occurring molecule within the body aids the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat which is what makes Kybella a safe and effective non-surgical alternative.
Non-surgical Kybella is FDA approved to reduce fat under the chin. It is ideal for women or men who want to improve their profile without surgery. While it can help to diminish the appearance of a double chin, it is not effective if that concern is caused by the bone, skin, muscles or glands. Patients with a history of dysphagia or those who are pregnant or nursing, are not ideal candidates for Kybella.
Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics in Scottsdale will conduct a thorough pre-treatment consultation. At this time, we will review your medical history, any current diagnoses, and any over the counter or prescription medications. We will also analyze your skin and discuss your concerns and goals. Using all of this information helps us to best determine if Kybella is the right treatment choice for you.
The benefits of Kybella can sometimes be seen in as little as one treatment. However, most patients schedule up to three treatments, each about one month apart. Results are gradual but noticeable, resulting in a naturally contoured chin and jawline. While results from Kybella are not immediate, the fat cells are permanently destroyed and do not come back. Making healthy lifestyle choices can help you retain your beautiful, youthful facial profile.
Kybella treatments are relatively quick outpatient procedures performed at Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics in Scottsdale. To prepare, discontinue the use of aspirin, Motrin, garlic, flax oil and cod liver oil about a week prior to your treatment. Avoid alcohol, spicy or high sodium foods and caffeine about 24-48 hours before your treatment. We cannot inject Kybella into an area with an active infection or open blemishes. If this is the case, please contact us to reschedule your appointment.
On the day of your treatment, plan to arrive about 15 minutes ahead of your appointment to allow time for questions or paperwork. The appointment itself is quick and should take about 30 minutes or less. Once you are comfortable in our treatment room, your aesthetician will clean the skin and mark the areas for injection with a washable pen. Then, you will receive a series of tiny injections. You may experience some minor pinching and pressure during the injections, but the procedure is generally not uncomfortable.

Swelling typically peaks around the 24-hour mark and can last for a few weeks depending on the individual. Ice packs and anti-inflammatories can be used to help control and alleviate swelling after your treatment.
